A great chef tastes their dish as they to gain immediate feedback on how it tastes and what it needs, as opposed to tasting at the very end before ready to serve. Learning how flavors interact, how much seasoning is enough, and so on are fundamentals of good cooking. Just as a chef needs that immediate feedback, so do educators. Formative assessments monitor student learning to provide ongoing feedback that can be used by instructors to improve their teaching and by students to improve their learning. Participants will gain MANY tools to use in the classroom to aid in this form of progress monitoring.
